EDITING AND PROOFREADING
I am an experienced copy editor and proofreader. Polaris Editing has been going strong since 2013. I’m dependable, meticulous, and easy to work with.
I love working on authors’ books, helping them polish up their writing and ready it for publication. An author’s voice is crucial to maintain throughout the editing process, and that is always at the forefront of my mind as I work.
I’m an author too, so I understand how hard it is to turn work over for editing, and I am always sure to remember that as I work with you. I see the beauty in each piece of writing I work on, and I consider it an honor to do so.
I have extensive experience both editing and proofreading the following genres:
- Cozy mystery, traditional and paranormal
- Romance, all sub-genres
- PWF
- Science Fiction
- Space Opera
- Urban Fantasy
- Non-fiction, including memoirs, self-help books, and web content
- Women’s Fiction
- Anything pet-related
I am happy to work on other genres too but prefer to steer clear of horror, child abuse, and animal abuse scenes.
I am also available for developmental editing for cozy mystery and non-fiction.
GHOSTWRITING
I am available for select ghostwriting projects. I have been writing full-time for eight years, and I have extensive experience ghostwriting web content, especially articles with SEO in mind.
I am also available to and have experience in ghostwriting books in a few limited genres.
Please contact me to discuss your project type, deadline, and budget, and we’ll see if I’m the right fit for your project.
What’s the Difference Between Editing and Proofreading?
There are many types of editing. What I do is copy editing. I will look at each sentence of your work and evaluate it for proper grammar, flow, and readability and suggest changes in Track Changes in Word. You will have the opportunity to review each suggestion and accept or decline it.
Proofreading is the final step before publishing. I will carefully read the manuscript, looking for typos, homonyms, extra spaces, and missing letters.
Contact me today to discuss your project. I can’t wait to hear from you.
CLIENT TESTIMONIALS
What Those Who’ve Worked with Me Think
“As a first time author, all the advice you hear it to get a good cover and hire a good editor. Some of us have to learn the hard way and have our English major friends read it first. But trust me, you want to hire a real editor!
Polaris Editing was wonderful to work with! Paula had my 70,000+ word manuscript back to me in less than a week! Not only was she professional and caught far more than I ever would have, but she also gave a me a couple of tips that I am prettt sure weren’t included in the copy editing pricing.
All that said, hire Polaris Editing. I can’t wait to get me next book written and hire them again.”
Jana Mae Floyd
Author, janamfloyd.com/“As a new author, I was nervous about getting my work edited. It was very important for the stories to be told in my real voice since it’s non-fiction.
Paula was amazing to work with and she was fast. I got my manuscript back sooner than what she estimated and the work was very thorough.
I’ll definitely be using this editor again!”
