Since this is my first blog post, I decided to share some things about myself and my writing habits with all of you, my lovely readers.
I’m forty-four years old, married, with a six (almost seven)-year-old daughter. We’ve lived in Michigan’s upper peninsula since 2012, and we absolutely love it here.
Here’s a picture of me:
I am a small animal veterinarian, and I practiced general medicine for fifteen years before I decided to stay home with my daughter and pursue my second career. I found my old ACT scores and, while I’d done very well in math in science, my reading comprehension and writing scores were even better. I knew I was good at proofreading, so I started a business.
Soon, I was proofreading, editing, and writing pet-related web content, and I loved every moment of it. I still do. Eventually, I wrote three short pet care books and self-published them. I wanted to write fiction but didn’t think I could. I thought my voice was better suited for non-fiction.
But the siren call of fiction still sang to me, especially at night, and one day I had an idea for a book—a murder mystery. So, I wrote the book. And it wasn’t very good. But I wrote another one, a romance, and it was much better. I kept writing. I wrote four romance novels under a pen name.
Then, I found two co-authors to write with. Soon, I was writing cozy mysteries, publishing them, and they were getting good reviews.
And I absolutely loved it. Still do.
Here are some of books in paperback form. I’m missing four of them:
In December, I’m going to be re-writing that first mystery book because I adore the story, and I know I can do it justice now.
I still work full-time as a proofreader, editor, and non-fiction content writer. And now, I write fiction as a second almost full-time job.
Here’s a picture of my writing space:
We have a small house, so it’s on the main floor. All the better to be present in my daughter’s day as much as possible while I work.
Thank you for following me and supporting my books. My readers are precious to me. Without you, I couldn’t be an author.
